SIVEL 400MG TABLET

Sivel 400mg tablet contains an active ingredient known as Sevelamer. It is a member of the class referred to as phosphate binding agents. It is used to treat hyperphosphatemia (high blood levels of phosphate) for adult patients undergoing dialysis (hemodialysis or dialysis peritoneal) and patients suffering from chronic kidney disease with elevated phosphorus levels in their serum. It should be combined with other treatments, like vitamin D or calcium-rich supplements, to avoid bone disease. The high blood phosphorus levels could cause calcification. This is when hard deposits develop and increase the stiffness of blood vessels, affecting blood flow.
Do not take Sivel 400 mg tablets if you are allergic to Sevelamer or other medication components. Avoid taking this medication in case you suffer from an insufficient amount of phosphate or bowel obstruction. Before you start taking this medication, be sure to inform your doctor if you are expecting or planning to become pregnant or suspect you might be expecting or nursing. Before beginning the treatment plan, tell your physician if you are having difficulty swallowing or if your stomach or bowels are having problems moving food.
Also, tell your doctor if you suffer from bowel inflammation or suffered a significant bowel or stomach surgery. Sivel, 400mg tablets, is not advised for children under six due to the absence of research on the safety and efficacy of the same age group. If your doctor has warned you of a sugar intolerance, you should consult your physician before taking this medication because it contains lactose.
