Zolasta 4 mg injection contains the active ingredient Zoledronic Acid. It is part of the class of substances known as bisphosphonates. It’s used to decrease the calcium content of the blood of adult patients who have it too high due to the presence of tumors. Tumors may accelerate regular bone changes to the point in which the amount of calcium released from the bone is accelerated. This is referred to as hypercalcemia caused by tumors (TIH). It can also be utilized to avoid bone-related complications for adult patients suffering from bone metastases and multiple myeloma due to the solid tumor (spread by cancer cells from their site of origin into the bones) as well as the standard cancer treatment.
Zolasta 4mg injection can also be used to treat or prevent osteoporosis (a condition where the bones are weak and thin and easily break) for women who have gone through menopausal changes. It can also be employed to combat osteoporosis among men. It’s utilized to treat Paget’s Disease of the bone (a condition in which bones are weak and brittle and can be distorted, painful, swollen, or fractured). Other applications include preventing or treating osteoporosis for women and men taking glucocorticoids (a corticosteroid medicine that can result in osteoporosis).
Don’t take this medication if you are allergic to zoledronic acids, another bisphosphonate, or other ingredients in this medicine or if you are expecting or nursing. Before beginning treatment, tell your doctor of any liver or kidney issues, bone conditions, swelling, pain, or jaw sensations of numbness. This medication is not recommended for use by adolescents or children younger than 18 years old. Zolasta 4 mg injection is not a chemotherapy for cancer, and it will not slow down or stop the growth of cancer. It can, however, be used to treat bone disorders in cancer patients.
