Enfiera 500 mg injection is a source of the active ingredient of the drug rituximab. It is prescribed for various diseases in adults. It can be taken on its own or in combination with other medications to treat non-hodgkin’s Lymphoma (cancer that affects B-lymphocytes, which are white blood cells) and chronic lymphocytic Leukemia (the most frequent form of cancer that targets B-cells). It can also treat moderate-to-severe arthritis (a form of arthritis in which the immune system attacks cells in the body of its joints) when combined with methotrexate for adults. Other indications include granulomatosis and polyangiitis, also known as microscopic polyangiitis (inflammation of blood vessels primarily affecting the lungs and kidneys) for children and adults aged two years or older. It can also treat moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris (an autoimmune disorder that causes painful pimples on the skin and the lining of the mouth, nasal, throat, and genitals.
Enfiera 500mg injection falls into the class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies against CD20. Avoid taking this medication if you are sensitive to rituximab or other components of this medication, are immune-compromised, or suffer from an active disease. Inform your doctor if you suffer from heart disease, problems, or breathing difficulties before initiating treatment. Consult your physician when you’ve had a hepatitis B infection, as the infection can reactivate in some cases and is sometimes severe. The use of breastfeeding and pregnant women is not recommended while receiving this treatment.
Common adverse effects that can be experienced with Enfiera 500 mg injection are blood clots, decreased red blood cells, and dizziness. Other side effects include swelling in the body and face, itchy face, diarrhea, more sweating, and high or low blood pressure. Make sure you are using effective contraceptives during treatment and for 12 months following the last dose if you can become pregnant. This medication may trigger severe reactions to infusions during or within 24 hours following treatment. Inform your doctor or healthcare professional if you encounter any reactions to the infusion, for example, elevated blood pressure and chest pains, headaches or breathing issues, vomiting, and skin rashes. Also, you may experience throat swelling.
