Valgan 450 mg tablets are antiviral drugs that contain an active ingredient known as Valganciclovir. It is part of the class called Antiviral (Non-HIV) medications. Valganciclovir is transformed into Ganciclovir upon entering the body and works to combat viral infections. The drug is prescribed to combat Cytomegalovirus (CMV) diseases that affect the eye’s retina for adults who suffer from Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Cytomegalovirus can lead to problems with vision and blindness. It also prevents Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in people who have received organ transplants from someone whom CMV infects in both children and adults.
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to the Valganciclovir drug, Ganciclovir, or its additional components. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from decreased blood cell numbers ( WBC, RBC, Platelet). Inform your physician if you received any hemodialysis or radiotherapy (a treatment that removes the wastes and fluids out of the blood) or if you have any issues that affect your kidney. Inform your doctor if you are expecting or plan to become pregnant. Utilize effective contraception throughout and after treatment. Women should utilize contraceptives for 30 days, while men should make use of condoms for 90 days between and following treatment. Consult your physician for any fertility concerns.
