Cytomab 500mg injection is made up of the active component of rituximab. It is used to treat various diseases in adults. It is prescribed either on its own or in conjunction with other medicines to treat Lymphoma (cancer that affects B-lymphocytes, which are white blood cells) as well as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (the most frequent form of cancer that targets B-cells). It can also treat moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis (a kind of illness in which the immune system attacks body cells in their joint) when combined with methotrexate in adults. Other indications include granulomatosis and polyangiitis or microscopic angiitis (inflammation of blood vessels primarily affecting the lungs and kidneys) for children and adults two years old and over. It can also treat moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris (an auto-immune condition that can cause painful burns on the skin and the lining of the mouth, nasal, throat, and genitals.
Cytomab 500mg injection is part of the class of medicines known as monoclonal anti-CD20 antibodies. Avoid taking this medicine if you’re allergic to rituximab or any other ingredient in this medicine, are immune-compromised, or are suffering from any active severe disease. Inform your physician if you have heart disease, failure, or breathing difficulties before initiating treatment. Discuss with your doctor when you’ve had a hepatitis B infection, as the infection could reactivate in a handful of cases and is sometimes severe. The use of breastfeeding and pregnant women is not advised when receiving this treatment.
Common adverse reactions of Cytomab 500 mg injection include bacterial blood infections, decreased red blood cells, dizziness, swelling of the body and face, itchy face, diarrhea, more sweating, and high or low blood pressure. Utilize effective contraceptives during treatment and for 12 months following the last dose if you do become pregnant. This medication may trigger severe reactions to infusions during or within 24 hours following treatment. Inform your doctor or healthcare professional if you react to the infusion, such as elevated blood pressure and chest pains, headaches or breathing issues, nausea, or skin rashes. Also, you may experience throat swelling.
