Epotrend 2000 IU injection has active ingredients like Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Alpha/Epoe. It is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs). This medication helps treat anaemia due to chronic kidney diseases (CKD), chemotherapy for cancer, or HIV treatment with zidovudine. It also decreases the need for transfusions of red blood cells for patients at risk of losing blood as a result of surgery planned and other surgical procedures.
Epotrend 2000 IU injections should not be administered to those with hypersensitivity as well as any component, excessive hypertension, active thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) or purified red cell aplasia (PRCA) and seizures that are not controlled and pregnancy or lactation. Also, it should be used carefully in patients who have a background of bleeding clots or heart disease, kidney disease, stroke, liver disease, thalassemia, sickle-cell anaemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, leukaemia or cancer. It is not recommended to use in children who are under the age of 18 when the benefits outweigh the risks. Older adults taking this medication must be monitored closely for adverse reactions.
