Hexaxim injections are bacteria-based vaccines that belong to the combination vaccines that contain their active ingredient, the Diphtheria Pertussis Tetanus (DPT) Vaccine. It is a vaccine to safeguard children from skin diseases and respiratory illnesses such as Whooping Cough, Polio, Hepatitis B and influenza. Diphtheria is a bacteria-borne infection that primarily affects the respiratory system. It can result in complications, such as damage to the nervous system and the heart. Pertussis is characterised by intense coughing and an “whooping” sound during inhalation. It is hazardous for babies, causing severe complications, such as pneumonia or seizures. Tetanus, ten referred to as “lockjaw,” is forced through a toxin released by the bacteria. It mainly affects the nervous system and can lead to extreme muscle stiffness and spasms.
Before you start your vaccination, inform your physician if you or your kid is suffering from blood issues that cause easy bruising and prolonged bleeding after tiny cuts (e.g. haemophilia, haemophilia, or thrombocytopenia) or if you are taking blood-thinning medication. They will assess and decide the most appropriate procedure for vaccination. The vaccination should be delayed if your child received the booster dose of tetanus and diphtheria vaccine within the last four weeks. The doctor will refer you to government guidelines for the proper time for the next vaccine if you or the child is suffering from an impaired or weak immune system as a result of circumstances such as HIV cancer, HIV infection or medications that suppress the immune system. In this scenario, the immune reaction to Hexaxim injection might decrease. In such instances, your physician will evaluate the potential risks and benefits of vaccination and could suggest alternatives or a different time.
Don’t use this vaccination if your child suffers from severe acute febrile illness, as the immune system could already be weakened due to the disease. Hence, receiving an injection at this point may not be able to provide a complete immune response. Therefore, the vaccination is best delayed until you or your child fully recover. Suppose the child or you had a about of Guillain-Barre syndrome(a neurological disorder that occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks peripheral nerves) within six weeks of the previous dose of a Tetanus-containing vaccination. If that is the situation, your physician will assess the situation and determine if this vaccine should be administered. The vaccination during pregnancy permits the protection of the mother to pass to the child who is in the womb. This protects against whooping cough in the initial couple of months of life. The booster doses are suggested after adulthood and later to ensure security. It is recommended that Hexaxim injection is given in a sequence of quantities throughout infancy and early childhood to provide long-lasting protection against the disease.
