Kaycut powder is a medication that belongs to the class of potassium binders. It is a drug that contains the active ingredient calcium polystyrene sulphonate. It is utilized for treating hyperkalemia(a condition that causes an excess amount of potassium present in blood) caused by anuria or severe Oliguria. It is also used to lower potassium levels for patients on regular dialysis to treat kidney insufficiency.
The oral administration of Kaycut powder is not recommended for neonates. The reason for this is that neonates are born with an infancy of the gastrointestinal system and have reduced intestinal motility, which increases the risk of developing gastrointestinal problems like intestinal obstruction or perforation. Magnesium-rich laxatives shouldn’t be used in conjunction with this product.
