Mypred 1gm injection is an anti-inflammatory medicine that belongs to the class of glucocorticoids. It contains the principal ingredient of methylprednisolone. The drug is prescribed to manage allergic or inflammatory disorders that affect the head (caused by meningitis or tumours) and lung tissue (caused by asthma or tuberculosis), hypersensitivity or breathing in stomach or vomit contents) as well as the gut and the bowel (Crohn’s illness as well as ulcerative colitis). It treats rheumatic, skin-eye, endocrine, and skin conditions. It can also be used in the management of tumours (leukaemia as well as lymphoma) as well as the relief of discomfort following surgery. In higher doses, it’s used to treat flare-ups that are symptoms of MS. This injection should not be taken when you suffer from an infection caused by fungal bacteria and brain swelling due to malaria, trauma brain injury or if you just were vaccinated or are about getting any vaccination.
This drug may increase the risk of various eye conditions, including posterior subcapsular cataracts and glaucoma. These conditions could lead to visual loss if they are not treated appropriately. In addition, corticosteroids can reduce your immune system, which makes people more vulnerable to secondary ocular diseases caused by fungi or viruses. It is, therefore, crucial to administer corticosteroids at the most effective dose and in the shortest time to minimize the chance of adverse side consequences.
You must inform your doctor promptly if you notice an alteration in eyesight or discomfort when taking the Mypred 1gm injection or any other corticosteroid medication. Your physician will keep track of your electrolyte, blood pressure levels and kidney function carefully as you take corticosteroids to minimize the negative consequences. Additionally, corticosteroids may boost calcium excretion, which could lead to osteoporosis and an increased risk of fractures when in long-term use. Your doctor may prescribe vitamin D and calcium supplementation to maintain bone health when using corticosteroids. Before taking this medication, inform your doctor about any medication you’ve been taking in the last few days, such as herbal remedies and supplements.
