Pulmovax 23mg injection of Pneumococcal vaccine used to protect against disease. In both young children (from 6 weeks until 17 years) as well as older adults ( aged 18 years or older), the injection works to prevent meningitis (inflammation of the spinal cord and brain) and sepsis (bacteremia) (bacteria in the bloodstream) and pneumonia (lung infection) and ear infections caused by 13 varieties of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. It causes the body to produce antibodies that protect the body from infection.
Do not take the Pulmovax 23 mg injection if you are sensitive to the vaccine for pneumococcal, any other components in this medication, or any additional vaccination containing diphtheria toxoid. Don’t take this medication if you suffer from a severe infection and a fever (over 38 degrees). Before beginning treatment, inform your doctor of current and previous medical conditions, including breathing problems, bleeding, or bruising. Inform your physician if you are suffering from a weak resistance to infection (weakened immune system ) or seizures.
Inform the doctor if your child was born prematurely (at or before 28 weeks gestation). Tell your physician if you are pregnant, expecting to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant or nursing. Don’t self-inject. A trained doctor is the best person to inject a Pulmovax 23 mg injection.
