Vagacyte 450 mg tablet is an Antiviral that contains the active ingredient Valganciclovir. It is part of the class called Antiviral (Non-HIV) medications. Valganciclovir transforms into Ganciclovir upon entering the body. It works to combat viral infections. This drug can be used for treating Cytomegalovirus (CMV) diseases that affect the retina for adults suffering from Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Cytomegalovirus infections can cause vision issues and blindness. In addition, it can prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in children and adults who have received organ transplants from someone with CMV infections.
Don’t take this medicine if you have an allergy to the Valganciclovir drug, Ganciclovir, and its additional components. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from decreased blood cell counts ( WBC, RBC, Platelet). Inform your physician if you have had any form of radiotherapy, hemodialysis (a treatment that removes waste and water from the blood), or any other issues affecting your kidney. Inform your doctor if you are expecting or planning to become pregnant. Make sure you are using effective contraception during and even after treatment. Women should utilize contraceptives for 30 days, while men are advised to use condoms for 90 days following the treatment. Consult your physician for any additional concerns regarding fertility. The dosage adjustment of the Vagacyte 450 mg tablet may be prescribed if you have kidney issues. The doctor will periodically conduct blood tests to measure the blood count when using the tablets.
