VALCYTE 450MG TABLET

Valcyte 450 mg tablets are an Antiviral that contains the active ingredient Valganciclovir. It is part of the class known as Antiviral (Non-HIV) medicines. Valganciclovir transforms into Ganciclovir once it enters the body and works to combat viral infections. This drug can be used for treating Cytomegalovirus (CMV) conditions in the eyes’ retina in people suffering from Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Cytomegalovirus infections can cause blindness and vision problems. It also prevents Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in patients who have received an organ transplant from a person infected with CMV in both children and adults.
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Valganciclovir Ganciclovir and its additional components. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from decreased blood cell numbers ( WBC, RBC, Platelet). Inform your doctor if you received any radiotherapy or hemodialysis (a procedure to remove waste and water from the blood) or have conditions affecting your kidney. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Make sure you are using effective contraception during and after treatment. Women should use contraceptives for 30 days, while men need to make use of condoms for 90 days between and following treatment. Talk to your doctor about additional fertility issues. The dosage adjustment of the Valcyte 450 mg tablet may be recommended if you suffer from kidney problems. Your physician may periodically take the blood test to measure the blood count when using the tablets.
